WORDS OF REFLECTION
John L. Genchan
was born to the late, Otto Edward and Frances Genchan, July 1, 1920
in Saratoga, Arkansas. He departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 1998 at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.
After completing his early education, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He moved to Kansas City, Kansas and began working for Armco Steel where he retired after 36 years of exemplary employment.
John was an active member of Mason Memorial United Methodist Church for over fifty years. He served as President of the United Methodist Men, was a driver for Mason's Bus Ministries and served as a Church Trustee.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Charline M. Gibson on October 24, 1946. To this union three daughters were born. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Charline M. Genchan of the home; three daughters: Jacquelyn Owens-Genchan, Omaha, NE; Cheryl Genchan-Herviey, Kansas City, KS; and Jonette Genchan Carroll Sicklerville, NJ; two son-in-laws; Richard B. Herviey and Craig D. Carroll; seven grandchildren: LaBaron and Kimberly Owens, Kansas City, KS; Brian Owens, Columbus OH; Jarret, Tiffany and Crystal Carroll, Sicklerville, NJ; Christopher and Terrance Herviey, Kansas City, KS; five great-grandchildren; LaBaron and Eric Fowler, Kansas City, KS; Devin Owens, Omaha, NE; Alec and Tyler Owens, Kansas City KS; one brother; Alvin Genchan, Saratoga, AR; four sisters; Lois Gordon, Zolene Alexander and Marie Townsend all of Kansas City, KS; Lorene Bazart, Okmulgee, OK; four brothers-in-law; Urel Gibson, Jr., Kansas City, KS, William D. Gibson, Frank O. Gibson and Wayne E. Gibson all of Ashdown, AR; five sisters-law;Paralee Genchan, Saratoga, AR; Leatha Winfrey and Cora Cressell, Ashdown, AR; Queenie E. Gibson, Kansas City, KS; Carol A. Gibson, Ashdown, AR and a host of relative and friends.
