Rayford Powdrill, 62, of Okmulgee died on July 27, 2004 at his home. He was born in Okmulgee on May 19, 1942.
He grew up in Okmulgee and received his education in Okmulgee Public Schools, including the Historic Dunbar School with the class of 1961. Rayford served his country during peace time in the United States Army National Guard. He was a dedicated employee of the City of Okmulgee for over 23 years before. his retirement. He and Brenda Cowan were married on December 1987. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Powdrill of the home his children, LaDonna and Martin L. Sheared, Sr. of Okmu1gee, Joyce and John Tompkins, Newport, Minnesota, Kelli R. Kelley, Okmu1gee and Timothy Sims of Sapulpa; his brothers, Norman Powdrill of Tulsa, Duane Pow drill of Compton, Calif., Kevin Powdrill of Baltimore, Md., and George Lewis of Okmulgee; his sisters, Wanda Deckard of Okmulgee, Verna Stafford, Okmulgee, Denise Parker, Dallas, Texas, Rosetta Deckard, Okmulgee, Norma Drew, Okmulgee, Kathy Ellis, Tulsa, Loretta Patton, Joyce Watkins, Sandra Payne, Glenda Wallace, Barbara Gresham and Charlotte Love, all of Okmulgee and nine grandchildren, along with other relatives and many friends.
Service of Memory will be held Friday, July 30, at 11 :00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, 521 North Central. Reverend P. W. Jackson, Sr., host Pastor. Reverend Judson Fields, Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Northwest Cemetery in Okmulgee. Funeral services are under direction of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.
