Robert Thomas Woods, Jr. was born on July 8,1949 in Murfreeboro, Tennessee, and was the fifth child born to the union of Mr. Robert Thomas Woods, Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson Woods.
Robert received his early education in Tennessee, attending Holloway High School, and was a graduate of Tennessee State University. Robert also served in the United States Armed Forces Branch of the Navy, and served one tour of duty in Vietnam. During his service career, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Navy Unit Commendations.
In December 1993, Robert along with his wife of 27 years, Shirley and their daughter, LaToya relocated to Fresno, California, transferring from PPG Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburg, PA. Robert worked in several areas; Systems, Accounting and Benefits, and most recently he held the position of Director of Financial Services. On January 1, 2000, Robert would have been with PPG Works 15 for 23 years.
Robert Woods, Jr. had an amazing knowledge of technology and computers, and loved the challenge of mastering them. He also loved people and gave of himself whether it was a close friend or a stranger. Robert loved his family and found his most enjoyable moments spending time with his grandson, Kristopher.
Robert answered God's call to come unto Him and united with Family Community Church on October 10, 1999. He followed the Lord in Water baptism on November 28, 1999.
Robert Thomas Woods, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, December 28, 1999 at the age of 50 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved and devoted wife - Mrs. Shirley Ann Woods (of Fresno, CA); 1 daughter - Mrs. LaToya Shaw and son-in-law - Dwayne Shaw (of Lindenwold, NJ); 1 grandson - Kristopher Shaw (of Lindenwold, NJ); parents - Mr. Robert Thomas Woods, Sr. & Mrs. Elizabeth Woods (of Murfreesboro, TN); 2 brothers - Mr. Jimmy Lee and Ann Woods (of Murfreesboro, TN); Mr. Eddie & Jessie Woods (of Nashville, TN); 3 sisters - Bessie & Chester Porter ,Barbara Woods (of Murfreesboro, TN) and Angela Woods (of Nashville, TN); 4 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; aunts and uncles, nieces; nephews and cousins and a host of kind and devoted friends.
